State and Logic Language

SALL stands for "State and Logic Language".  It is a propriety computer programming language developed by Invensys Australia to provide automation on their RTU50 and SCD5200 range of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).  SALL is based upon the 'C' language, and includes additional facilities for real-time automation and interacting with the RTU's core firmware.

HLSI

SALL includes an extension called High Level Serial Interface (HLSI) to enable custom programming of serial protocols.  This has been used on many projects to provide interfaces to several types of GPS time clocks, enabling very accurate time synchronisation of the RTU's real-time clock.  HLSI has also been used to interface to other types of IEDs, such as PLCs and Flow Computers.

Projects

Dave Turner is an expert in SALL design and coding, having used it in many RTU projects, often with very demanding functional requirements. He has also lectured on the subject on numerous occasions.
