RTU Specialist

• Expert in RTUs, particularly the Invensys RTU50 (formally C50) and SCD5200 ranges.
• Subject Matter Expert and world leading designer in Invensys’s State and Logic Language (SALL) running on the RTU50 and SCD5200.  
• Senior lecturer for RTU training courses for general clients and closed sessions for ActewAGL (ACT), Ausgrid (NSW), Powerlink and Ergon (Qld), AusNet Services (Vic), PWC and APA (NT), Tenix (SA) and TNB (Malaysia).

SCADA protocols

• Expert and Lecturer in DNP3, having resolved numerous issues, and a lecturer in the subject.
• Developed and wrote RTU drivers for FoxCom and Toshiba PLC ASCII.
• Project lead with Conitel, IEC 60870-5-103 and Modbus.
• Highly proficient using the PC based ASE-2000 test-set mainly for DNP3, Conitel and Modbus.
• Working knowledge of IEC 60870-5-101,-104 and IEC 61850.

IED interfacing

• Configured and debugged SCADA interfaces for a broad range of protection relays from Siemens (including Reyrolle and Microtapp), SEL, MiCOM, ABB, Basler and GE.
• Highly experienced with PLCs, Flow Computers, Gas Chromatographs, Cathodic Protection units, PQMs, GPS time clocks and Surveillance Cameras.

Master Station Engineering

• Designed and implemented Invensys iSCADA Master Stations for Vector (NZ) and Kaoshanchun sub-station (China) and others.
• Engineered ClearSCADA to modify and extend existing systems for ActewAGL as well as InTouch for several small projects. 

Communications protocols

• Expert in TCP/IP: including design, implementation and fault analysis of routing, managed and unmanaged switches and experienced user of Wireshark.  Experienced in protocols including RSTP, FTP and NTP.
• Highly experienced in serial communications using RS-232, RS-485 and RS-422.  Has diagnosed and corrected several poorly performing systems. 

Software Development

• Expert in writing database generation tools and other ad-hoc utilities in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), mainly using Excel.
• Expert in ‘C’, having written many utilities for RTU work.
• Knowledgeable in C++, Java, Pascal, Coral 66, Cobol and various assemblers.

Electronics

• Working knowledge of electronic circuits, having developed several small projects, including PIC based systems. Effective user of oscilloscopes, function generators.
• Capable of soldering to a good standard, including some surface mount devices. 
• Knowledgeable in radio communications.
